Crime Success Story in Ingleside Terrace:

Between 10:00 pm, Saturday, March 28, 2009, and the next morning, a suspect entered an unlocked door at a private residence on the first block of Estero and took a cell phone, jewelry, and a computer. Also taken from a car parked in the driveway were an amplifier and a guitar. At 10:00 am on Sunday, March 29, 2009, Officer William McCarthy of the Ingleside Police Station, working alone, spotted a notorious suspect who the officer had arrested on a number of ocasions, loitering on the 3300 block of Mission Street. The officer was aware that the suspect was wanted on a no bail parole warrant as the suspect was on parole for burglary. The officer stopped to arrest the suspect and noticed that the suspect was carrying a computer bag and also observed the suspect throw a cell phone to the ground when the officer approached. Officer McCarthy attempted to arrest the suspect but the suspect violently resisted arrest. The officer struggled with the suspect for some time and finally was able to get the suspect on the ground and called for assistance. Other officers arrived and the suspect was taken into custody. The officer checked the cell phone and traced the phone to one of the items taken in the burglary on the first block of Estero. He also traced the computer in the possession of the parolee as the one taken during the night from the house on the first block of Estero, as well as a piece of jewlry in his possession also taken in the burglary. Inspectors Phil Pera and Julian Hill of the San Francisco Police Department Burglary Detail were assigned this case. They visited the suspect in the County Jail, advised him of his constitutional rights, and elicited a full confession from the burglar on how he had entered the house on Estero and taken the victims' property. The suspect, who has no permanent local address, was arrested for first degree burglary, the parole warrant and receiving stolen property. Case #090327739 and 090328555
